Ride to Ladak

I started my journey on motorcycle from Kolkata on 31st july & reached Shimla in 3 days travelling via Jharkhand, Bihar, U.P, Delhi, Haryana & entered Himachal via Chandigarh, Solan & night halted at Shimla.
Next day early morning started my journey for jalori pass. 30kms before Rampur after crossing Narkanda, there is a left side diversion to Khanag village. The ride gets steeper & steeper as I approached Jalori pass.
Reached Jalori top & thereafter 8 kms downhill to Shoja village & finally Aut tunnel to Manali.
Reached manali in the evening & rested for one day for acclimatization.
Day after started the heavenly journey from Manali to Leh crossing some of the highest motorable mountain passes Rohtangla, Barlachala, Nakeela, Lachulungla, Tanglangla to reach leh via Jispa, Sarchu, Pang, Gata loops, Moore plains, Upshi, Karu. Rested in leh for two days and secured permits & started the journey to Hunder via Khardung-la . I reached Hunder to visit the last village Turtuk before the Siachen base camp starts, the point till where civilians are allowed.
It was a beautiful experience to witness such amazing scenic beauties. Next morning started the journey towards Pangong lake via Khaltse, Agham, Shyok but after riding for 60kms from Agham, saw that the roads are closed due to landslides & no vehicles were being allowed. So could not proceed further, it was also getting dark. The BRO persons allowed me to stay at their tents & guided me to start early next morning towards Pangong lake via the mighty Wari-la pass, which till that point of time was unknown to me.
Next day crossed Wari-la to reach Shakti village then Changla pass, Durbuk, Tangtse, Lukung to finally arrive at Pangong. Stayed the night at a tent in Spangmik on the banks of the Pangong lake.
One can become a poet simply by looking at the crystal clear waters of the lake, it is unbelievable... the next day early morning started my return journey after filling the petrol tank with spare fuels kept in the useful jerry cans (2 no.'s of 5litres each). Before I could leave Pangong I had a wish to ride up to Marsimek la though didnt have permits. However, rode till the Phobrang village, the ITBP will not allow you to go onwards without permits, Marsimek la is 15 kms from here. I was back in Leh by that afternoon.
Next day started my return journey to Kolkata via Kargil, Dras, Zozila pass, Sonmarg, Srinagar, Jammu, Jalandhar, Ambala, Delhi. On the way crossed Fotula pass, Namik la , Zozila pass. Saw magnetic hill in Nimmu, did some basic offroading in the magnetic hill..
Due to the on-going curfew in srinagar, I was forced to cross Sonmarg to Jawahar tunnel at midnight with army patrol vehicles. Reached Sonmarg in the evening, barely rested for 4 hours & again started the ride ar midnight, rode till Jammu that same day. That was a very hectic ride. Upon reaching Jammu, rest for the day before starting the journey back to Kolkata via Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Delhi, U.P, & Bihar.
I completed the entire solo journey from Kolkata to leh & back, in 17 days. Stuck for two days in the trip due to landslides, one day for bike breakdown & three days for rest. Overall it was really a nice and wonderful experience.
